Blake Snyder’s paint-by-numbers formula, the “Blake Snyder Beat Sheet” (or BS2), which is presented in the practical guidebook “Save the Cat!” has recently landed in the spotlight of several pointing fingers accusing it of being what’s “wrong with Hollywood”.
I decided this was a fine excuse to finally read the book myself and make my own decision – and to see if I could maybe pick up a few tricks along the way.
12-16 hours is a fairly normal timeframe for any microbudget production, with the hopes of cutting equipment rentals in half, and relying on the hard-working, yet unpaid, energy of both cast and crew.
